Hi there, I’m Kerri!

I know the depths of your pain and struggles first hand. I’m a survivor myself and my journey to recovery led me to become a Certified Professional Life and Trauma Recovery Coach.

You are not broken. In fact, you not only have an innate resilience, you have an innate strength to reclaim your life. You can become the person you want to be; the person you were born to be.

There’s tremendous value in working alongside someone that can truly relate: someone who has lived with the anxiety, the depression, the complex PTSD; someone who has lived through it and has recovered. You can recover, as well.

Have you had enough of the anxiety? Does the plague of intense emotions have you exhausted? Do you say you’re fine when you’re really not?

The façade itself is debilitating, isn’t it? You walk around full of anxiety, and fear, easily overwhelmed by the deceptions of your own mind. A constant narrative chattering away in your head, commenting on your every move, undermining your sense of security. It’s as if you’ve been exiled from your own life - disconnected - an outsider trying to find a way in or a lost soul desperately seeking to claim its vessel.

You know what you need to do, yet you just can’t seem to get out of your own way to do it.

You feel different from everyone else, yet you’re totally confused about who you even are.

You feel like a fake, questioning everything about yourself and others. You don’t know why you feel the way you do at times. And, you never see it coming. It just hits you throughout the day, and suddenly you find yourself all out of sorts, in an emotional disarray, confused, with no clear order to your thoughts or despair. You don’t know how to explain it so you stifle it, shove it deep down into the depths of your being. It’s what you do to keep what little control you feel you have, because the idea of your thoughts, feelings and vulnerability being exposed is absolutely terrifying.

Inevitably, the moment happens, you lose control and you explode. You can’t hold it in anymore. You’re in tears, sobbing uncontrollably. You know your response is out of proportion to the situation, but you don’t know why or what to do. You feel helpless, like a frightened and confused child.

You want to be you. You miss the person you were before the trauma. Or maybe you were so young when it happened, you never had a chance to know or explore your own personal sense of self. You’ve thought about that often over the years, wondered what that little, lost you would have made of life, what they’d want for your life now.

I’ve been there

I know you because I was you. Your pain is as deep as your secrets, and your struggles are real. Every. Single. Day.

As a survivor of pervasive, repetitive childhood trauma, I spent decades barely surviving with my truth silenced and my pain deeply embedded in my soul. I woke up every morning dreading the thought of a new day, struggling in the depths of depression, feeling as if I’d been banished from my own life. I battled chronic anxiety and the distressing symptoms of complex PTSD (CPTSD), such as flashbacks, disassociation, and triggering. I felt broken, helpless, and hopeless constantly in a need of a lifeline to sturdy myself, and I didn’t understand why.

I was told I’d have to find a way to live with it because the impacts of the trauma I suffered would be with me for life.

Change

Our nervous system is shaped by our experiences early in life. It creates a map within our being: touching on all of our senses, coding a path in our existence. Through those experiences, we also develop coping mechanisms or trauma adaptations that are meant to keep us safe.

We feel our past in the present every day thereafter, predicting a constant threat to our well-being. As our nervous system picks up on smells, sights, tastes, and sounds, it traces back to that path of existence, grasping for those coping mechanisms, frantically hoping to survive. This is how the nervous system of a trauma survivor functions every moment of every day, and it’s something of which we are totally unaware.

Desperation turned to inspiration when I made the decision to dig my way out and consciously create a life for myself - a life that would serve me well, and you can absolutely do the same.

Image a life beyond trauma

What you’re experiencing is life through your childhood conditioning. Much like yourself, my day to day responses, my reactions, the anxiety - that wasn’t who I was, I was not all the chatter in my head. I was no longer that powerless child - and neither are you. We are not the map or our childhood. Awareness of this is the first step to consciously connecting with your authentic self to create a life you genuinely love to live.

Trauma is not a life sentence

You do not have to live your life on the roadmap of your childhood. You do not have to suffer the feelings of that trauma over and over again.
