Homemade, Healthy Dark Chocolate Chips

Homemade dark chocolate chips, a comfy blanket and a good book–sounds good to me! I love the taste and texture of these and eventually I’m going to do some baking with them but for now they’re a healthy after dinner snack that hits the spot. Enjoy!

 

Ingredients:
(Serves 8 to 10)

1 cup cocoa butter or coconut oil
1 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup raw honey or maple syrup
3 teaspoons vanilla extract

 

Directions:

  1. Gently heat all ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat. Mix until ingredients are combined and chocolate sauce is smooth.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, one if an edge if available. Pour chocolate sauce over parchment lined cookie sheet. Place cookie sheet in freezer. Freeze for 2-3 hours or until chocolate is completely hard.
  3. Remove chocolate from the freezer and break it into chunks. I used my hands to do this but you can use a pizza cutter to make small chocolate chip size pieces.
  4. Store chocolate chips in freezer. These can be used just like store bought chocolate chips!
