Can You Forgive and Still Remain Angry?

If you’re still angry have you truly forgiven? I used to ask myself this question a lot.

  1. I feel like, at least for me, I know I haven’t truly forgiven someone when I’m still angry for what they’ve done. Because I harbor hatred or dislike or anger towards them, I know I don’t truly wish them betterment and peace, so I know I haven’t really forgiven them. A very good topic to cover.

  2. Wonderful question. I am absolutely still angry at the clergyman who violated my boundaries, but I wish him no harm. We are estranged, but since he still leads a congregation, I pray for his healing, his marriage, and his ministry. If this is forgiveness — then yes, we can forgive and still be angry.
